Dear Tired Mum: Allah Sees What No One Else Sees

Dear Mum,

Not the version of you that smiles in photos. Not the version of you that tells everyone you’re “fine.” Not the version of you that says, “It’s okay, I can manage.”

I’m writing to the woman behind all of that.

The woman who is tired. The woman who sometimes sits in the bathroom for five extra minutes just to have a moment of silence. The woman who falls asleep before finishing her own tasks because everyone else’s needs came first. The woman who wonders if what she does even matters. The woman who loves deeply, but sometimes feels exhausted by carrying so much.

This is for you.

The Work That Nobody Applauds

Motherhood is filled with moments that rarely receive recognition. Nobody congratulates you for waking up three times in the middle of the night. Nobody notices the mental checklist running through your mind every day.

The school forms. The appointments. The groceries. The reminders. The emotional needs of your children. The worries you carry without speaking about them. The things you quietly sacrifice so your family can have a little more. Many parts of motherhood happen behind the scenes. There are no awards. No promotions. No annual performance reviews. No standing ovations. Just another meal to prepare. Another mess to clean. Another problem to solve. Another day to show up. And sometimes, if you’re honest, it can feel invisible.

“Am I Doing Enough?”

Perhaps one of the heaviest questions a mother carries is this:

“Am I doing enough?”

You compare yourself to other mothers. The ones who seem more organised. More patient. More creative. More successful. More present. More everything. Meanwhile, you notice your mistakes. The times you lost your temper. The days you felt overwhelmed. The moments you were not at your best. What you may not realise is that most mothers are asking the same question. Most mothers are carrying similar doubts. Most mothers are trying their best with the resources, energy, and understanding they have at this moment. Perfection was never the requirement. Sincerity was.

Allah Sees the Efforts Others Miss

People often see results.

Allah sees effort. People see the child. Allah sees the mother who stayed awake comforting that child. People see the meal. Allah sees the hands that prepared it despite exhaustion. People see the clean home. Allah sees the energy it took to maintain it. People see the family gathering. Allah sees the planning, the emotional labour, and the sacrifices behind it. People see the outcome. Allah sees the struggle. And sometimes, the struggle is what carries the greatest reward. There are acts of worship known only to Allah. Perhaps some of your most beloved deeds are hidden within the ordinary moments of motherhood.

The Weight You Were Never Meant to Carry Alone

Many mothers have become experts at carrying burdens.

They carry responsibilities. They carry expectations. They carry guilt. They carry worries about the future. They carry concerns about their children. They carry the pressure to be everything for everyone. But Allah never asked you to carry the entire world on your shoulders. He asked you to trust Him with what is beyond your control. Your responsibility is effort. The outcome belongs to Allah. You can guide your child. You cannot control every choice they make. You can nurture. You cannot guarantee every result. You can plant seeds. Only Allah causes them to grow. There is relief in remembering this. The patience. The restraint. The gentleness. The consistency. The service. The love.

When You Feel Like You’re Failing

There may be days when motherhood feels beautiful. And there may be days when it feels incredibly hard. Days when you wonder whether you are getting anything right. Days when you feel emotionally drained. Days when your patience feels thin. Days when you cry after everyone has gone to sleep. On those days, remember this:

Feeling tired does not mean you are failing.

Feeling overwhelmed does not mean you are weak.

Feeling stretched does not mean you are inadequate.

It means you are human.

Even the strongest hearts need rest.

Even the most devoted mothers need support.

Even those who love deeply need moments of renewal.

Your Presence Matters More Than You Think

Years from now, your children may not remember every toy they owned.

They may not remember every meal. They may not remember every outing. But they will remember how they felt around you. They will remember being comforted after a difficult day. They will remember your voice making dua for them. They will remember your hugs. Your encouragement. Your laughter. Your willingness to keep showing up. The small moments often become the lasting memories.

A Letter for the Days You Feel Unseen

So if today feels heavy…

If you are wondering whether your efforts matter…

If you are tired of carrying responsibilities that nobody seems to notice…

Please know this:

You are not invisible to Allah.

Not one tear.

Not one sacrifice.

Not one sleepless night.

Not one whispered dua.

Not one act of patience escapes His knowledge.

The world may overlook what you do. Your children may not fully understand it yet. Even you may underestimate your own impact.

But Allah sees it all.

Every single bit of it.

And He is the Most Appreciative.

Before You Continue Your Day…

Take a moment. Put your hand over your heart. Take a slow breath.

And instead of asking yourself:

“Am I doing enough?”

Try asking:

“Have I loved, served, and tried sincerely today?”

If the answer is yes, then perhaps you are doing better than you think. Perhaps your home does not need a perfect mother. Perhaps your children do not need a flawless woman. Perhaps they simply need you. The woman who keeps trying. The woman who keeps loving. The woman who keeps returning to Allah. And maybe, just maybe, that is already something beautiful.

Tonight, before you sleep, leave the dishes if they can wait. Leave the laundry for tomorrow if you must. Sit quietly for a few moments. Look at how far you have come. Look at the battles you have survived. Look at the people you continue to care for.

Then make a simple dua:

“Ya Allah, I place what I cannot carry into Your Hands.”

And for a little while, let yourself rest there too.
